A Modern Hermitage

Now I agree with the good Father that the structure looks inviting but as I watched the video it really started to bother me. So the woman and her husband live a simple “natural” life, no kids? No family nearby? to be childless is not natural, this is not a good life but a selfish one,  centered on ones self to the exclusion of new life, totally sterile and fruitless.  As  an Organic Dairy Farmer I quite often get in trouble by pointing out to young farm couples, the newly married (for almost 4 years) with no children or the ones with the perfect 2 or 2 and a spare who like to talk about their “natural” lifestyle, that being on the pill is not “natural” in any way, sterility is not natural, flooding you body with outside sources of hormones is absolutely not natural.  In organics we promote and celebrate fertility in our soils and animals, why sterility in our families?  When in this society did being childless become a thing to celebrate and having a family become looked down on, when did sterility become fashionable, when did fertility become a medical condition needing treatment. When did children go from a blessing to a “punishment”, being a stay at home Mom become code for worthless and lazy. More than 2 children become “vanity kids”?

While i was stewing this over and trying to make a post out of it  this hit the news:

School covers mural for depicting a man, woman & child

, the assistant principal  “asked her to look at other ways to show the outcome of the subject’s progression to adulthood.” a student mural at Pilgrim High School was deemed inappropriate and painted over because it depicted a man holding the hand of a woman and child The student artist, 17-year-old Liz Bierendy, said that she depicted the man and woman as married with wedding rings

we are sick sick sick, I pray we do not die of our self inflicted illness
