You know, I really don’t go looking for this stuff.

I just pulled up the website for the Catholic Telegraph, the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, and the lead story under the local section concerns Xavier University’s Art Dewey on the papyrus fragment that supposedly shows Jesus had a wife.

For the uninitiated, Dewey is a member with the Jesus Seminar, a group whose founder claimed, “It is no longer credible to think of Jesus as divine.” Indeed, Dewey himself routinely casts doubt on the divinity of Christ.

So it probably won’t surprise you that he declines an opportunity to debunk the widely debunked claims made by the papyrus peddlers.

But hey, Archbishop Schnurr has another couple of Andrew Dinners scheduled for the fall, so all is well in the AOC.
