Someone has posted all 2:40 of Philip Gröning’s landmark documentary Into Great Silence to YouTube. The 2005 film’s stars are the Carthusian monks of France’s Grande Chartreuse monastery; Gröning reportedly first sought permission to film the monks in 1985. Don’t let the Russian language of the YouTube poster throw you off, as very few words are spoken (and then in French.) If you’re looking for a way to slow down and reorient yourself for the remaining days of Lent, it’s not a bad place to start.
